public class ReflectionBuilder<T>

Builds a valid instance at run time using reflection. Intended as a complement to the regular builders. This can be used as a quick way to build a valid entity of any type. It creates a unique value for each property.

propertyCount

protected static int propertyCount

Static counter that increments each time a property value is generated. e.g. if I have objectA and objectB which both have the property fullName The first one will be set to sampleValue1 and the second to sampleValue2

enumCounters

protected static Map<Class,Integer> enumCounters

Static enum counter. Each enum that is encountered is added to the map and the counter incremented. Subsequent calls to generate an value of that enum type will retrieve the enum from the map first and use the count to select the enum value to use.

Static constructor that creates a fully valid entity.

Parameters:

entityClass - Class for the entity to create

Returns:

A typed builder for the entity class

resetCounter

public static void resetCounter()

Reset incrementing of the property count to 1. Called in the before test method in unit tests. Ensures that each test executes independent of each other.

Sets a property using the specified field name and value. Since the field name can only be checked at runtime, this can be quite brittle. If the value being set has matches only one field in the target class, then there is no need to specify the name.

Parameters:

fieldName - field to set value for

value - value to use

Returns:

The current builder

Sets a property from the built entity. If there is more than one property of this entity type, an exception will be thrown

Parameters:

builder - builder to use

Returns:

The current builder

Sets a property from the passed in entity. If there is more than one property of this parameter type, an exception will be thrown. If no property in the entity matches the parameter type, an exception will be thrown.

parameter - Entity to set

setFieldsWithRandomValuesFor

Set all the fields in the instance with a random value.

Parameters:

instance - instance whose fields are set

generateRandomValue

public Object generateRandomValue(Class<?> type)

Generate a random value for the specified class type.

Parameters:

type - Class type of the value to generate

Returns:

Random value.
